1. Introduction (~350 words)
The Introduction is a short statement (~ 500 words) that begins 'with more general "big picture" aspects to introduce the topic and funnels down to "little picture" aspects.' It summarises the 'what, why and how' of the research. It focuses on the following:
• background to your research
• purpose of your research
• significance of the research
1.1 Background to the study
This section is part of the introduction and briefly outlines how you arrived at your topic and establishes the rationale for doing the study and how it proposes to build on what has already been done in the area.
1.2 Purpose of the research (aims)
This section is also part of the introduction and states what the study proposes to find out. It also includes your research question and any objectives of your study. There should be clear links between these and the purpose, research questions and study aims.
1.3 Significance of the study
Outlines why this study is worth doing and needs to convince the reader the study is worth doing
Literature Review (~200 words)
This section includes a literature review that provides a rationale for your proposed study. It is based on the key findings and information from the Critical Literature Review you have done for Assessment 1. This section may reflect updated information using the feedback you received in the first assessment, and any further new literature. Methodology (~1,000 words)
This section describes the research design appropriate to answering your research question. It also indicates your study sample, sampling procedures, including exclusion criteria, how you propose to collect and analyse your data and ethical considerations.
3.1 Sampling
Outlines why this study is worth doing and needs to convince the reader the study is worth doing.
3.2 Data Collection
Here you explain how you intend to collect, manage and store your data. You also need to indicate how you will ensure your study is rigorous.
3.3 Data Analysis
Here you indicate how you intend to analyse and present your data.
3.4 Ethical Considerations
This section explains the ethical considerations of your research including what ethical clearance you need to gain.
3.5 Limitations of your research
Here you identify the particular weakness of your study as you currently see it.
Dissemination of results (~150 words)
This section states how you propose to share the findings of your research study.
