I have used the PRISMA 2020 Checklist (Page et al., 2021) and referred to the expanded checklist as I have been working on the Methods section and will do so as I continue writing my Results section. Items 4 - 10 are completed and 11 - 13 are not yet fully completed. I do most of my schoolwork on weekends because I teach full-time in the classroom all week, so I already have my schedule to complete them by our Method/Results draft submission deadline. The outline I have for my Results section includes a written explanation of how the studies were selected and screened that explains and elaborates on the PRISMA flow diagram included. The study characteristics table and quality assessment summary are not yet fully completed as I am transferring over information from the spreadsheets and revising my table. I am cross-checking with the expanded PRISMA checklist as complete my revisions of each section, and I have the items previously mentioned to complete.

I agree with Silvia (2018) that an external deadline can serve as a structure that forces the writer to clarify decisions they have been waiting to make. This week's deadline helped me clarify the order to write the synthesis portions in the Results section. I decided to present the evidence in the following order: combined smartphone use and walking alters psychological state, students' smartphone behaviors can cause negative effects, students' cognition/psychological well-being decreases when walking and smartphone use compound, and students experience positive effects on mental health when walking without viewing their phones. I decided this after drafting the sections and spending time shifting the respective studies to find what I think is the proper flow to the order for the reader to best understand the findings. Throughout this process, I have also relied on principles of quantitative research techniques to ensure the review remains systematic and well organized.

Discussion 2

The Methods and data analysis draft is a work in progress, and I am confident with the progression. Up to this point, I have addressed PRISMA 2020 items 4-9 and 11 in the Methods section. Items 10 and 12 are incomplete and item 13 is currently in progress. The Results section includes a PRISMA flow narrative in prose and a ROBINS-I quality assessment table with a summary of the overall findings. The Results section also includes a study characteristics table that includes the author, publication year, country, study design, setting, sample size, and age range of the included studies. For organization purposes, population was not included in the study characteristic's table and was placed in the diagnostic methods table that identifies the evaluator and diagnostic methods used to identify mouth breathing within each study's population. I have cross-checked the draft against the expanded PRISMA checklist for items 4-9 and 11 and am currently in the process of cross-checking item 13, incorporating information that was overlooked.

A methodological decision I committed to because of the draft deadline was cross checking the draft against the expanded PRISMA checklist and incorporating details that were not included. Just like Silvia (2018) discusses, this week's deadline forced me to decide on making decisions that were deferred and move forward rather than wait. I made this decision so that I could complete writing the methods section rather than going back to making revisions at the end. Careful statistics and quantitative research techniques also support the consistency of the data analysis process.
