Activity #1:
Introduction to activity: Considerable controversy still exists over what a learning disability is. There are numerous definitions, but the two definitions that are noted most often and that largely shape students' programs and services are the federal definition (I D E A) and the N J C L D definition. There are two approaches discussed in this chapter. Response to intervention includes prereferral intervention, rather than coming after it. The other approach, the traditional approach, follows pre-referral intervention.
Compose a reflection/discussion on the differences, and the pros and cons between the traditional approach and the R T I/M T S S approach to identifying students with learning disabilities.
