Interpersonal Relationships

This assignment will examine how your interpersonal relationships differ depending on the context of the relationship. You will examine two of your specific interpersonal relationships and compare and contrast the means in which you communicate, how your role changes, how much you self-disclose, the pattern of development. etc... The two relationships you compare must meet the definition of an interpersonal relationship provided in your textbook on page 75. You may compare and contrast the two relationships based on any of the elements from Chapter 5.

You may also connect to other chapters from the text if they are relevant.

Some sample relationships you may want to compare:
a relationship with a parent versus a grandparent
a relationship with a male friend versus a female friend
an in-person relationship versus a virtual relationship
a work interpersonal relationship versus school or other interpersonal relationship

NOTE-. Make sure you select specific relationships you have in your life for analysis. For instance, instead of examining relationships with male friends versus female friends on a broad scale, the goal is for you to examine a specific relationship you have with a particular male friend and a particular female friend. You will gain much more insight from this assignment if you apply the concepts to your own specific interpersonal relationships.

Examine not only the differences in the two relationships, but also how you interact in each relationship. For example, what role do you have in each relationship? Do you have different levels of self-disclosure? What are the means through which you communicate (email, text, versus in person).

Paper requirements:
o You must apply and connect to at least 4 specific elements/ concepts from your chapter readings.
o Your paper should have a clear introduction, thesis statement, supporting evidence/examples of your math ideas and a conclusion.
o (If it helps, you may use the above as headings in your paper.)
o Grammatically correct and free of any typos
o APA or MLA format, including correct citation of your sources
o Minimum of 2 sources (suggestions: your textbook, one academic journal article)
o 3-4 pages minimum (pages should be double spaced)
o Title page and reference page do NOT count towards total number of pages
o Margins no larger than 1 inch on all sides
o Readable fonts (Times New Roman, Calibri, Arial, etc.) no larger than 12 point
