The process of evaluating the risks to safety and health arising from hazards at work and involves looking at the possibility of injury occurring to a person if exposed to a hazard. The risk assessment process covers various aspects like how many people are exposed to each hazard and for how long. In such a scenario the organizations should carry out an assessment before the new work or project that gives rise to the risk.
Case Study
The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) were established to ensure that there is adequate electricity and water production capacity accessible at the lowest cost to meet the growing demands in the Sultanate of Oman. The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) aims to roll out 2500-3000 MW of generation capacity by 2025 in order to reach the target of 10% set by the National Energy Strategy. This will mean a considerable increase in the number and scale of renewable energy projects being implemented: to put the target into perspective, Oman's installed renewable capacity grew from 1 MW in 2014 to 8 MW in 2018.
Assume a solar thermal plant in Duqm is to be established by 2024. In such a scenario, you as OSH officer asked to prepare a risk management and hazard impact assessment report related upcoming solar thermal plant.
