Step 1. Evaluate the Web Site Structure and Documentation

In your discussion, provide the following information:

  1. Visit https://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/ (Links to an external site.). Select one web site.

Describe what if any changes you would recommend in the web site structure and organization and content. What is the URL and web site name?

  1. Identify any problems the naming conventions for the ID and name properties for the html elements and style sheets that were used in this page.
  2. Review the nesting, line wraping and whitespace conventions they users. Did they minimize their code?
  3. Can you tell what editor they used by the code or meta tags? If so what was the editor they used?
  • Are they using a content management system? If so which one?
  • Are they using third party JavaScripts or other code? If yes what are they using? (You may not be able to identify this... you have to look a the comments in the code.)
  1. Is there proper documentation using the meta tags and title tags?
  • Are there comments in the header and body and are they appropriate?
  • Are there errors in the comments or documentation?
  • Is third party code and resources properly documented?
  • Did they use deprecated or obsolete tags or attributes?

Step 2. Analyze the HTML, CSS and JavaScript Code

In your discussion, provide the following information:

  1. What version of HTML are they using? What version would you recommend? Identify 2 reasons to use the version you chose. Were there errors? What were they?
  2. Review the web site for compliance with HTML standards. Use the validator at validator.w3.org and identify the errors. How many errors and warnings are there? Explain one of the errors and what you would do to fix the error.
