Use the Internet or Strayer databases to research two similar state policy proposals of your choosing. For example, you may choose to compare and contrast State Voter ID Laws. You will use the selected policy proposal for all written assignments throughout this course. Therefore, before you select the desired proposal, read through the descriptions of Assignments 2, 3, and 4 in order to ensure that you may apply the chosen event across all four assignments.

Prepare a three to four page written analysis in which you:

1. Investigate the significant historical perspectives of each policy. Indicate the context or the problem of the day that created the urgent need for the policy.

2. Analyze the social, economic, and political environments of the time frames during which the policies were implemented.

3. Evaluate the salient impact of the most influential interest groups for and against each policy. Justify your response.

4. Evaluate the degree to which the policies affected change during their designated time frames. Provide a rationale for your response.

5. Include at least four academic references (no more than 5 years old) from material outside the textbook. Note: Appropriate academic resources include academic and governmental Websites, scholarly texts, and peer-reviewed articles. Wikipedia, other wikis, and any other websites ending in anything other than ".gov" do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must:

•Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

•Include a cover page containing the tile of the assignment, the student's name, the professor's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

•Explain how environmental factors (structural, political, economic, demographic) influence the development of public policy.

•Analyze how historical trends and conditions have affected social, political, and management theories, and how they have influenced the evolution of public administration in theory and practice.
