Assessment - Interim Report & Presentation

Assessment Description
This assessment is designed to help you consolidate and present the progress made on your Practical Industry [Capstone] Project. It consists of three key parts and includes both group and individual assessment components. Your submission should demonstrate planning, technical development, and reflection aligned with professional and academic expectations.

Part 1: Interim Report
Each team must submit a professional report outlining the project's current progress. The report should be based on a real-world problem provided by an industry client and must include:
Required Sections:
Title page
Table of contents
Introduction
Project Overview
Business Context and Market Analysis (Including IS tools used if applicable)
Project Management Organization
Methodology (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, etc)
Systems Requirements and Specifications
Systems Architecture
Components Specifications (based on your project type):
Data Analytics: Data gathering, pre-processing, modelling technique, building model, analysis,
Cybersecurity: application strategies, testing plans, testing results, contingency plans, alternative solutions,
Mobile/website/Software application: DFDs, UML Diagrams, User Interface, UX design, test plans.
Project Plan (e.g. WBS, Gantt, Kanban)
Budget and Resource Requirements
Recommendations
Project documentation evidence: Minutes of meetings and proof of Project Management tools use: WBS, RACI Matrix, GANTT, Backlogs, Trello Kanban charts, etc.

Part 2: Video Presentation
Your team must prepare a video presentation that explains the contents of the interim report and outlines your project's progress.
All team members must appear and present in the video.
The video must be no longer than 15 minutes.
Submit the video via Moodle.
The presentation should align with the report structure and highlight key advances made.

Part 3: Technical Progress Submission

In addition to the report and video, teams must submit project work in progress, which could include:
A partially developed application (frontend/backend)
A simulation or mock-up design
A functional output relevant to your discipline (e.g., dashboards, databases, threat models)

In-Class QA Session (Week 5 - Compulsory Attendance)
During Session 5, all teams will attend a live Q&A session.
Each student will be asked individual questions to assess their understanding and contribution to the project.
Attendance is required as student responses affect the whole assessment mark.

Academic and Referencing Requirements
You must support your work with credible academic and industry sources such as journal articles, conference proceedings, government and industry reports, academic textbooks, among others.
All references must be formatted in APA referencing style.

Video Interim Report:
A video recording of the team presenting the interim report and project progress.
All team members must appear and contribute.
Maximum duration: 15 minutes.
Must address all content areas outlined in the report.

Interim Report:
A professionally written report submitted in Word or PDF format.
Submit as a single ZIP file containing:

Any presentation slides used in the video
