This assessment is a major research project report undertaken on an individual basis. Your chosen research area (i.e. destination) and topic for Assessment 2 remain the same for this assignment. Your paper should be 2,000 words, excluding references and appendix.
For this assessment along with Assessment 2, you are required to choose a city or a region as a case study destination showing a significant challenge to the national or regional tourism and hospitality sector. The research should identify key issues and aspects, and critically discuss these as well as suggest current or potential innovative and creative solutions and broader implications considering the ethical and social consequences. It is always recommended to refer to the UNTWO's SDGs. The "significant challenge" has to be one of the topic areas we have covered in this unit, for example, ‘climate change', ‘political instability and terrorism', and ‘technological change. The research should identify key issues and aspects, and critically discuss these as well as suggest current or potential innovative and creative solutions and broader implications considering the ethical and social consequences.
