Vinegar (density of 1050 kg/m3, viscosity of 0.001 Pa·s) is drained from an open, large diameter storage tank through a 7.5 cm inner diameter (ID) pipe. Along the length of the pipe, the vinegar passes through a Venturi meter with a throat diameter of 4 cm. The manometer fluid is mercury (density of 13560 kg/m3), which reads a differential height, h1, of 34 cm.

a) Making the assumption that the Reynolds number is greater than 200 000, estimate the volumetric flow rate in the pipe. (0.01151 m3/s)

b) Confirm that the assumption in part a) is valid.
