Question: Assume the boundary layer which forms at the entrance to a circular pipe behaves like that on a flat plate. Estimate the length in diameters to reach fully developed flow (for the edge of the boundary layer to reach the center line of the pipe) for water at 68OF entering a pipe of D inches in diameter with a uniform velocity of 0.05 ft/s. (At this velocity the flow is laminar.)
