1. Mass is transferred from a cylindrical naphthalene bar with diameter of 1/2 in. and length of 6 in. suspended in a SOOF air stream moving with a velocity of 40 ft/s. Estimate the initial mass transfer coefficient

2. Air is blowing at a bulk velocity of 50 ft/s through a 4-in. ID pipe whose walls are wetted with a continuous thin film of water. The temperature is uniform at 70°F. The diffusivity of water in air may be taken as 0.26 cm2/s. At a point where yA = 0.01, calculate the flux of water being evaporated from the pipe wall.
