Calculate the density of a honeycomb structure composed of the following elements: The two 2-mm-thick cover sheets are produced using an epoxy matrix prepreg containing 55 vol% E-glass fibers. The aluminum honeycomb is 2 cm thick; the cells are in the shape of 0.5 cm squares and the walls of the cells are 0.1 mm thick. Estimate the density of the structure. Compare the weight of a 1 m × 2 m panel of the honeycomb compared with a solid aluminum panel of the same dimensions.
