Design Challenge Report
In a group within your Drawing/CAD Laboratory class, identify a problem or challenge and demonstrate your understanding of the Engineering Design process by describing the stages your group went through to develop and then design a possible solution.
Assignment Requirements
1. The aim of this assignment is to work together as a team to identify a problem or challenge within society, and to then develop and design a possible solution. Your group must then produce engineering drawings and CAD models of your proposed design.
2. Your group must describe, in detail, the Engineering Design process that was used to develop and design a possible solution for the problem or challenge in a report.
3. The report must include a Title Page and a Table of Contents or ToC. Please use Word to automatically format your ToC. A References section must be included to indicate sources of information used in the report to justify or substantiate report statements.
4. Your Title Page must include the following:
a. The Topic Name and Topic Code
b. Your Group name and Group idea
c. All group members and FANs - students who do not contribute to the report should not have their names listed on the Title Page.
d. Your Drawing/CAD Demonstrator's name, and the day and time of your Laboratory
e. The date of submission
5. Next to each ToC heading, group members must put their name to indicate which Chapters they contributed to the final report. More than one name per heading is allowed.
6. The maximum number of pages for the report is 20 pages. The Title Page, ToC, References and any Appendices do not count towards the 20-page limit. Reports over 20 pages will not be marked. It is sensible to put a series of drawings (conceptual, technical and 3D) in the Appendices and refer to them as needed, including only the most significant drawings in the report itself. In other words, it is conceivable a multi-part CAD Design would have several detailed design drawings. These are a requirement of the report but do not necessarily need to be in the main body of your report.
