Assignment 1: Employment Contract Analysis

Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to analyze contract terms and demonstrate your understanding by identifying the implications for an employer based on the terms contained in the contract.

You will complete this assignment, using your own organization (or a past employer). You may also choose to approach another organization, such as a not-for-profit that you are associated with, to examine in your assignments. Regardless of what organization you choose, you may use a pseudonym to keep the organization anonymous in your assignments.

Note: If you do not have a suitable organization to use for your assignments, contact the instructor as soon as possible to discuss other options.

To conduct this assignment:
1. Complete the assigned reading for Unit 2.

2. Review the Sample Employment Contract on pages 106 & 107 of the textbook.

3. Review the employment contract used at your selected organization.

4. Compare the two employment contracts.

5. Write a response of up to 750 words.

a. Describe the differences between the contracts.

b. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your organization's employment contract.

c. Recommend changes to your organization's employment contract, and explain the rationale behind the recommended changes. If you recommend that no changes be made, explain why.
