Question
Suzanna and Marta are 2 practical nurses with more than 56 years of experience between them. As a student, you knew that they were famous for "eating new graduates alive" and you are worried about coming to their unit as a new graduate nurse. Soon after your orientation, you realize that Suzanna and Marta are trying to make you look bad in front of clients and staff. You carry on as best you can until one day, while you are assisting a frail client from the wheelchair to the bed, you hear Marta calling you urgently to the hall outside the door. You wheel the client close to the door then step outside for a second where Marta looks like she has cut her hand on a broken glass. You step forward to assist her when Suzanna appears behind you and loudly announces in a shocked voice that she cannot believe you have left Mrs. Henderson alone in her wheelchair. She angrily calls you "stupid" and "hopeless" and approaches Mrs. Henderson to tell her how shocked she is at your lack of concern for her. When you look back to Marta, she has disappeared down the hall. How do you handle this situation?
