Nationally during the time period between 1890 and the 1950's was when hospitals became known as modern institutions of science, doctors performing surgeries became more common, in the 1930's Blue Cross began providing private health Insurance and the Social Security Act is passed. The demand for hospitals increased and we see that with 4 hospitals being built between 1891 and 1947 in Spokane and it's surrounding areas.

Being that my hometown is San Diego, California I chose Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. They're one of the most recognized hospitals across the country for their dedication to pediatric healthcare. They are the region's only designated pediatric trauma center. They serve as a major pediatric clinical research center, working in collaboration with institutions, such as UC San Diego and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Their mission is to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy. Rady Children's Hospital first opened their doors on August 19, 1954 treating twelve patients. In 1961, they expanded to 90 licensed beds.
Fast forward to 2016, they've greatly expanded to 551 licensed beds. Every three years, The Joint Commission conducts an accreditation survey of Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. They encourage anyone who believes they have relevant and valid information about patient care or safety issues, but do not feel that there has been appropriate resolution, to report these concerns. They provide a phone number, email address, address and fax number for people who feel they need to report their concerns.
