Mental Health Disorder Flyer

For this project you will research and develop a flyer that draws awareness to a specific psychological disorder and where one can receive services for in your area. Think of this flyer as a Public Service Announcement in which you seek to educate those in your community. You are to make an flyer using a template from Word, Power Point, or Google Docs. Consider the different disorders that we have covered this term. Select one that you have found to be interesting and that you believe others could benefit from learning about. You have been provided with multiple resources in the readings and lecture notes regarding the symptoms of the disorders. Please utilize these. You may also use outside resources. A minimum of 3-5 resources are required. Please follow the outline below for the completion of this project.

Title: Here identify the DSM-V-TR disorder of your flyer.

Symptoms: Here list a minimum of 5 specific symptoms of this disorder. Now, remember that this flyer would be for the general public. So, list the symptom as its technical term and then explain what that symptom is in language that is understandable to someone who has not taken PSY 211. Be creative in how you present this data!

Where to get help: In this section you will list three places that one could receive help from in your area. To find such resources you can conduct an internet search. Example: "mental health services Phoenix Az." Read what services that are offered at these facilities to ensure that they treat the disorder you are presenting. Make sure that you provide both the internet address of these resources as well as their telephone numbers.

References: At the bottom of your Flyer include the references of the academic sources that you used in the creation of your flyer. Do not hesitate to contact your instructor for assistance. Remember, make sure that any assistance is requested well in advance of the due date.

After completing your flyer, submit an additional paper (at least two full paragraphs) which addresses the following two issues:

Ethical Concerns: Here discuss at least one specific ethical issue that is important to consider when developing a Mental Health Disorder Flyer (e.g., accuracy of presented data).

Bias: Here identify and address how bias (e.g., stigma, stereotypes) might lead people to misunderstand the specific disorder that you have presented in your flyer. Then, provide some suggestions for overcoming this bias.
