Mobile device manufacturers have locked down their operating systems to a degree not typical in operating systems used in traditional network creation and implementation.

The objective appears to be protecting untrained users from themselves; however, instructions to "jailbreak" those operating systems are readily available on the Internet. Use the study materials and engage in any additional research needed to fill in knowledge gaps.

Discuss the following:

• Does locking down mobile device operating systems make those devices more secure than older, more traditional operating systems of the past?

• What might motivate an untrained mobile device user to jailbreak their device and put it at heightened risk?

• How do network administrators in organizations that have chosen to adopt BYOD policies secure and protect their internal network from mobile device malware or other threats?
