Let X1, X2 and X3 denote the estimates of the function x(t) satisfying the differential equation
which are calculated using the second-order predictor-corrector method with steps of 0.1, 0.05 and 0.025 respectively. Compute X1(1.2), X2(1.2) and X3(1.2). Show that the ratio of |X2 - X1| and |X3 - X2 | should tend to 4:1 as the step size tends to zero. Do your computations bear out this expectation?
