Write a short 3-page paper (not counting title and bibliography/reference pages) analyzing an important political issue in Texaspolitics today. The paper is due on December 7th at 11:30pm. NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Introduce a policy problem in Texas politics that is of great concern to Texans (e.g. immigration, border security, health care, waterpolicy, etc.)

Identify and evaluate different policy solutions proposed by politicians and/or interest groups.

State your position on the issue. Do you agree with the proposed policy solutions? Why or why not? Recommend your own policy solution, if you do not agree with any of the proposed policy alternatives.

Articulate reasons and provide facts and evidence that support your argument. Discuss at least 3 appropriate academic sourcesand/or newspaper articles (do NOT use articles with no authors) in your paper

You can find good academic journal articles in JSTOR, EBSCO, and other research databases. Consult librarians. If you are not sure whether a certain book or an article that you plan to use in this paper will be counted as an academic source, ask your instructor!

Papers must be properly organized (e.g. starting with an introductory paragraph, position statement, arguments, conclusion) and logically coherent (e.g. citing proper evidence in support of your position and refuting opposing evidence/arguments).

Cite whenever you found an idea in another work that you wish to convey in your own paper, or if you are using a direct quotation. A good rule of thumb: when in doubt, cite. Please use the MLA citation style.

Your paper must be at least 3 pages long (not counting title and bibliography/reference pages). You do not have to include your title page, but do include your bibliography/reference page, with 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins on all sides, doubled-spaced, and have page numbers.

Be very careful about academic dishonesty, i.e. plagiarism. There is a clear explanation of what plagiarism is at HYPERLINK "https://www.lonestar.edu/library/plagiarism.htm" https://www.lonestar.edu/library/plagiarism.htm. In the event of plagiarism, disciplinary actions will be taken in accordance with the Lone Star College policy on plagiarism and academic integrity.
