Case Study Paper
A case study is an analysis of a situation or problem that is real. Before writing:
I. Research the case thoroughly, highlighting relevant facts and underlining key problems.
II. Identify two to five key problems:
1. Why do they exist?
2. How do they impact the organization?
3. Who is responsible?
III. Uncover possible solutions by researching at least 4 academic journal articles and at least 1 Sport Business Journal (SBJ) article, (or at least 1 book, or at least 1 government report, or at least 1 media article).
IV. Select the best solution after considering supporting evidence, pros, and cons. Is this solution realistic?
Writing Your Case Study Paper
You will research the topic of your choice and write a 1,300 to 1,600 word case study paper, excluding the title page and the reference page. In addition, you will create a 10-15 minute powerpoint slide video presentation. Your paper must abide by the 7th edition APA style. Your paper and presentation will include the following 5 sections:
I. Introduction
1. Identify the key problems and issues in the case study.
2. Formulate and include a thesis statement, summarizing the outcome of your analysis in
II. Context
1. Provide background information, relevant facts and the most important issues.
2. Demonstrate that you have researched the problems in this case study.
III. Alternatives
1. Outline possible alternatives.
2. Explain why alternatives were rejected.
IV. Proposed Solution
1. Provide one specific and realistic solution.
2. Explain why this solution was chosen.
3. Support the solution with solid evidence:
Concepts from class (e.g., textbook readings and lectures)
Outside research (e.g., academic journal articles, business journal articles, books, government reports, and media articles)
V. Recommendations
1. Determine and discuss specific strategies for implementing the proposed solution.
2. If applicable, recommend further action to resolve some of the issues.
