Diversity in Gas Exchange: Leaf Cross Section

The following interactive is a microscope lab that will demonstrate the controls and settings found on an actual light microscope. will be shown how to move the slides, change the lighting, and select a magnification by changing the objective lens. At the end of the interactive, will see two sample cross sections. Draw a diagram of the Dicot Leaf Cross Section following the rules of biological drawings mentioned earlier. Label all the different tissues in the leaf cross section. As work, consider the shape of each cell type and how their structure aids in gas exchange. Refer to details from concept map to help you to identify the types of tissues.

Once have to completed the Dicot Leaf Cross Section, choose the Monocot Leaf Cross Section slide and repeat the same steps as above. This time, will be able to include the vascular tissue in diagram. Again, consider the structure of the various tissues as work, and notice the difference between the cross section of the monocot and dicot leaf.
