1a. Read the passage below and answer the following questions.

It is a discussion between two friends during lunch time.

A friend at lunch says "I have a theory about why we have so much more cancer now than we ever did in the past. There's a lot more pollution now that's making people sick.' Then, she pulls out her phone to show how Doctor Oz was selling a skin lotion that would filter out all the toxic pollution and prevent cancer.

Answer the following questions based on the discussion above.

i. Why was it wrong for her to use the word "theory"? Explain your answer.

ii. Describe how and why did she come to such a reasoning.

b. From the discussion above, design an experiment to prove your friend's claims.

i. State the hypothesis.

ii. Suggest a suitable control.

iii. Identify the dependent variable

iv. State two variables that you will keep constant for the experiment.

v. List out the method you would use to test your hypothesis.

vi. Predict and explain the experimental results that will lead you to accept your hypothesis in part (a)(i).
