Data Analytics for Strategic Decision Makers
Task description:
In this unit we are interested in taking an area of concern, raising good quality significant questions that address that concern, and then using well documented data analytics to answer the questions and provide insights on the area of concern in a manner appropriate to key stakeholders. In this second assignment, you will extend your analysis capability and move beyond foundational data analytics techniques.
The assessment will involve the creation of a Jupyter notebook to demonstrate your understanding of (a) human factors and the ethical implications of data analytics for stakeholders, and (b) the potential for greater insights by extending the range of data analysis techniques to include more advanced techniques.
Learning Outcome 1: Interpret human information problems from an analytical perspective, with a focus on asking questions relevant to strategic decision making.
Learning Outcome 2: Select and apply a range of data analysis techniques on diverse data sources to address organisational concerns.
Learning Outcome 3: Synthesise relevant data using appropriate analytical and visualisation techniques in a way that provides useful insight for organisations.
Learning Outcome 4: Integrate knowledge of human factors into the data analysis process, so as to apply ethical principles.
What you need to do
The assignment will involve creating a Jupyter notebook based on a template (distributed via the online Jupyter environment during the first week of module C) to show evidence of your understanding of the material introduced during the second half of the semester. You will be required to demonstrate your understanding of the ethics involved in data analytics, as well as demonstrating your understanding of unstructured data and unstructured data analytics techniques.
You will demonstrate your ability to work beyond your analysis in assignment 1 by: analysing unstructured data, effectively applying at least one new analysis technique introduced in module C, and discussing ethical considerations relevant to the analysis. With a more advanced analysis, it is common to undertake more cycles of analysis. However, more cycles of analysis does not necessarily result in better quality insights. Therefore there is no minimum or maximum number of cycles.
