In short they ruled, that "A naturally occurring DNA segment is a product of nature and not patent eligible merely because it has been isolated, but cDNA is patent eligible because it is not naturally occurring".

The primary purpose of the paper is to provide the view regarding the Supreme Court ruling on gene patents in the 2013 case: Association for molecular pathology ET AL Vs Myriad genetics Inc., ET AL. It is analyzed that the case has discussed the reason of choosing cDNA as eligible for patent rather than that of DNA. The main reason of supporting the case is that it is seen that DNA is a naturally occurring product that generate from amino acids which builds proteins in the people body. Thus a naturally occurring substance does not eligible for any patent whereas on the other hand, cDNA generate from synthetically created exons strands of nucleoids which is not naturally occurred. Due to this reason it should be eligible for patent facility and thus I have supported the case.
