Assignment: Direct Practice Methods for Alcohol Use Disorder Paper
Instructions for the intervention paper. My client is going to treatment for alcohol use disorder.
Evidence-based interventions are practices or programs that have peer-reviewed, documented empirical evidence of effectiveness.
Evidence-based interventions use a continuum of integrated policies, strategies, activities, and services whose effectiveness has been proven or informed by research and evaluation.
The Students' Case Manuals must contain a narrative, regarding the type of intervention utilized on each case.
Formulating the Method of Intervention
A. Research best practice in peer reviewed social work journals for the identified problem/issue/concern/stressor (no less than 3 peer-reviewed journal articles must be used and attached.
B. Choose an evidence-based best practice method which proves to be a good fit for the client with regard to client's culture, ethnicity, race etc. and include in written narrative.
C. Identify tool(s)/instruments that are to be utilized to further assess the targeted need/problem (briefly discuss what it measures and how it is utilized, including the name of the author, the meaning of all ratings, etc.)
D. Client's level of participation in the development of plan/intervention (remember to engage the client in the treatment planning process)
E. Identify specific intervention to be used
F. Identify that all parties (client, social worker, others associated with the intervention) understand the expectations respectively.
Implementation of Intervention
A. Describe how the intervention is implemented in accordance to research and social work standards. For example, the NASW Code of Ethics requires that researchers represent themselves with accuracy, maintain access to and utilize supervision, etc.)
B. Identify the specific theory on which the intervention is based.
C. Identify any barriers to intervention
D. Identify how the social worker and/or client might overcome the identified barriers
E. Discuss whether there was a need to modify the intervention? If so, why & how?
F. Level of progress anticipated in achieving intervention objectives
G. How the social worker would monitor the client's progress (i.e., home visits, direct observation of interactions, behavioral assessment etc.)
