Objective: The purpose of this individual final assignment is to identify an organization and apply the concepts we have discussed in class in a case study format. You will choose an organization tasked with providing a public service (government agency, nonprofit, public-private partnership, social entrepreneurship, B Corps, etc.) and discuss the service provided, why it is important, how the organization provides the service including how it obtains necessary resources and funding, the approach it takes to service delivery, challenges either faced or potentially faced by the organization, and anything you found particularly interesting or surprising about the organization from your research.

Students are expected to draw from the course materials in their discussion and appropriately reference theories and concepts discussed throughout the course.

Outline:

Identify a public service organization (public, not-for-profit, social enterprise, or PPP). Discuss the public service the organization provides and the importance of the service provided.

Is this a high performing organization? (think about the 6 characteristics of high impact nonprofits-do they apply?)

How does this organization approach service delivery?

Discuss any relevant strategies (design, marketing, collaborations, etc.)

Challenges

What are the challenges faced by this organization?

How do they overcome those challenges?

What are some potential challenges the organization might face in the future? (think about change and adaptation)

How can the organization get ahead of those challenges?
