To complete this Group Analysis Assignment you will have two options for choosing a group to analyze:

1.  You may choose a group that you are (or have been part of) personally...at work, at school, in the workplace, or otherwise...

2.  You may choose to analyze a group that appears in a movie or television show...

Once you choose your group...or possibly watch the movie/show you pick, you will need to write a 5-7 paragraph paper in which you discuss the following using content/terms from Chapter Seven on Small Group Communication:

1. Describe the group in general terms. What kind of group is/was it? How many people were involved? What was/is the purpose of the group?  Is/was it best defined as a primary or secondary group as defined in the chapter?

2. Discuss one or two members of the group in terms of how they (or you) fulfilled small group task roles during the group's dymanics.  Assess the impact of those roles/behaviors on the group.

3. Discuss one or two members of the group in terms of how they (or you) fulfilled small group relational roles during the group's dynamics.  Assess the impact of those roles/behaviors on the group.

4. Discuss one or two members of the group in terms of how they (or you) fulfilled small group individual roles during the group's dynamics.  Assess the impact of those roles/behaviors on the group.

5. Discuss leadership in relation to the group.  Who emerged or took the role of leader?  What kind of leader were they?  How effective of a leader do you think they were?  Make sure to give a couple of examples.

6. Was there any examples of groupthink present in the groups dynamics?  Was technology a factor in the group's dynamics?  Was power and/or cultural diversity a factor?

7. Summarize your analysis by discussing whether or not you think the group displayed effective group dynamics.  Why or why not?
