Task details:
Groups:
• Each student will be allocated to a working group on week eight (5 members per group)
• Students will be notified via the unit site for HSH769 in DeakinSync of their group allocation.
Submission:
Each group will submit the following:
A) Your recorded presentation - maximum 15 minutes
• Formats include a narrated PowerPoint presentation, a video presentation, a video of an interview or role play, combination or other form of output.
B) A Transcript of your presentation using the template provided.
C) This is a group activity and full participation is expected from every member of the group. Your group's mark for this task includes assessment of collaboration within the group. Please submit evidence of your teamwork and collaboration with the following documents:
o A ‘Group Charter' to outline each group member's responsibilities (MS Word)
o A Minutes of group discussions using the template provided (MS Word).
Assignment Instructions:
The World Health Organization have identified ten leading causes of death worldwide (cardiovascular disease, cancer, mental health, Infectious disease, vector-borne disease, water-borne disease, respiratory infections, sexually transmitted diseases). The government you are working for has asked the department of health to prepare a presentation outlining how they could address one of these issues in the context of their country. Using one of your countries from AT1 or AT2 (Australia cannot be selected), analyse a particular disease or health condition (cardiovascular disease cannot be selected for India) and propose a program or intervention to address it within the health system.
Your presentation should include:
a. An overview of your chosen country (e.g., location, population, geography, political structure, main health issues (epidemiology) and their health systems, including contextual and historical factors that may be relevant to the disease/health condition.
b. Introduction of the health issue in general and in the context of the selected country.
c. Identify and discuss key areas for improvement within the health system that are related to your health issue. You may use examples and lessons learnt from other countries.
d. Analyse the dependencies, requirements, challenges, and implementing your recommendations within the health
e. End with conclusion/summary slide
f. Include a reference slide, ensuring that you reference any material you have taken from another source, including diagrams, tables and figures.
Purpose:
The presentation of the analysis of a health issue within the context of a Health Care System helps students to communicate scientific information clearly and structure information in a logical and effective way to engage different audiences. The skills gain through this assessment are:

ULOs
Undertaking this assessment task will develop, evidence and assess your development of the following ULOs:
ULO 1: Describe how the performance of health systems can be measured and evaluated
ULO 4: Identify and discuss the role of government and non-government sectors in health care delivery, organisation and efficiency.
ULO 6: Critically appraise recent attempts at health system reform, identifying the weaknesses and making recommendations to strengthen the reform.
