1. Assume that texting while driving is illegal in your state, and the punishment is a fine. What if you are driving, and you receive a text from your best friend, boyfriend, or girlfriend. Would you answer even though you know that it is a traffic violation? Let's assume you answer the text, and the police pull you over. The officer gives you a ticket for $150, and you have to appear in traffic court. Would you answer a text message again while you are driving? If yes, why? If not, why not? What does your answer mean in regard to the effectiveness of specific deterrence?

2. Assume that diet is associated with aggressive behavior. What if you are dating someone who eats a lot of food that contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, zinc, magnesium, iron, folate, and B, C, and E vitamins, and he shows aggressive behavior toward you. Would you talk to him about how his diet may be causing his aggressive behavior? What if you both ate that same diet, and he behaves aggressively, but you don't? Would you still talk to him about his diet, or would you assume his aggressive behavior has other causes? Consider biosocial perspectives here!

3. What if you are the owner of a parking garage, and the police tell you that your garage has one of the highest car burglary and assault rates in the city, especially in the evening hours. How would you lower these criminal acts? Consider perspectives like Routine Activities Theory.
