Inspired by O'Keefe's abstract art, the new vocabulary word abstraction, and drawing media, make your own abstract drawing.
Zoom in on a piece of nature and make an abstract design that at first glance does not look representational. Using a pencil (or any media) render the shadows and gradations. Use the entire sheet of paper to make an abstract design.
This can be any size of paper for this drawing. You might consider picking up an inexpensive white sketchbook at local CVS, or Walgreens for this class.

Tools

Use your small sketchbook, pencils, (or paper towel to smudge), graphite pencils, markers, and erasers. You are not limited to a pencil or pen. If you have other materials to make an abstract drawing you are welcome to experiment.
