Many psychology books discuss addictions as chemical imbalances, illness, and something that is more of a medical issue rather than a choice. However, I know plenty of cases where people straight end their addiction cold turkey simply because they found some strength in their minds that this has got to stop. So, are the chemical imbalances and the medically treatable components more results of the addiction which comes about through weakness of the mind?
