Assignment:

Write a paragraph about how the absorbency of deposition material influences bloodstain patterns, the processes influencing this, and their subsequent analysis, with particular reference to the differences between natural and synthetic fibres, using the following points:

• Also explores how fibre content, specifically natural and synthetic affects absorbency. clothing manufactured from synthetic fibres, or high synthetic fibre blends, represent the most challenging clothing category with regards to bloodstain evaluation and interpretation. They will almost certainly undergo some form of the aforementioned bloodstain shape change(s) following deposition. (Reynolds & Silenieks, 2016).

• It has been shown that the fibre content within a plain woven fabric affects the resultant parent stain area, and therefore most likely the wetting and wicking properties. (Dicken et al., 2015)

• Subsequently the wicking rate and direction of blood flow through fabrics composed of synthetic fibres can be vastly different to that of fabrics composed of natural fibres (Reynolds & Silenieks, 2016)
