Scenario: The Dilemma at EcoTech Solutions
Background: EcoTech Solutions is a forward-thinking company dedicated to developing sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies. Their mission is to reduce the carbon footprint of industries worldwide by providing innovative solutions that are both effective and affordable.
Situation: EcoTech has recently developed a groundbreaking biodegradable plastic that could drastically reduce plastic waste in the environment. Initial tests have shown great promise, but a recent discovery reveals that under certain conditions, the plastic breaks down into potentially harmful microplastics. The risk of these conditions occurring is low (around 5%), but they could pose a significant environmental hazard if they do.
The company's executive team must decide whether to go ahead with a limited release of the product, with plans to continue improving its formulation or delay the release until they can ensure it is entirely safe.
