For both reports:

Scientific report format: Prac 3 contains information and activities to develop your understanding of what is required in a university submitted scientific report for biology, in general and in relation to BIOIAP.

Word limit: 600 (does not include headings, figure/table captions, in text reference citations. The marking criteria gives a guide to how long each report section should be.

Referencing style: Harvard - Australian Government Style Manual (author-date).

In your f2f class in week 2 you will be conducting the first part of the experiment (methods). In week 3 you will collect data (methods) and in week 3 you will learn how to present the data for the report (results). You will need to research the topic and in your report indicate where you obtained your information by using in-text citations in your Introduction and Discussion. The citations are presented in full in a reference list. Revise the Introduction to scientific report writing module from week 3, if needed. Refer to relevant weeks in the BIOIAP practical manual for details about the experiment. The BIOIAP Reading List has some scientific articles listed as background reading.
