Project or Essay
Students will have an opportunity to develop a project designed for inclusion in corporate worship or to expand the understanding of Christian worship through writing an essay (or a combination of the two). Creativity and imagination is encouraged in the development of projects/essays. Students are encouraged to consult with the professor about their essays/projects before engaging in them.
Topic - Religion as a act of resistance.
Choose to either focus on Anabaptist or use them as an example but the entire paper most conform to the instruction in the word document and anabaptisit must be included one way or the other, citation is chicago style.
1. ESSAYS ( Religion as a form of resistance)
Essay Length: 2400 words
CMU has adopted the following as its standard guide for all academic writing: L. Q. Troyka, and D. Hesse, Simon & Schuster Handbook for Writers, 4th Canadian ed., (Toronto: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006). Troyka& Hesse is available at the CMU bookstore. Essays should confirm to either APA or Chicago Manual/Turabian style (with some preference for Chicago style).
Note: All essays should include at least 6 different sources of research.
PROJECTS
All projects should have at least three components:
1. A written/research component related to the topic/theme of the project (1200-1500 words)
2. The project itself - art piece, banner, worship series, etc.
3. Final reflection which brings together #1 & #2 (why did I do what I did? What did I learn? etc.)
Some ideas for projects:
- a piece of visual art for use in worship (eg. Banner, sculpture, installation, stained glass, etc.)
- a worship series for use in a particular worship context/setting (eg. Lent series, Holy Week series, Advent series)
- an "occasional" service or series (eg. Series on Creation Care, Prayer, etc.)
- a workshop/class designed to teach a particular group about the meaning and practice of worship;
- creation of a new ritual for use in worship
- Readers' Theatre or drama for use in worship
- A creative worship experience (eg. Goth Eucharist)
- A workshop designed to train worship leaders
