Project details:

Technology has helped gain access to many things like banking, ecommerce, payments, bookings etc. in remote locations where previously they did not exist. But surprisingly, everyone's biggest necessity of having access to quality healthcare is yet to be achieved. In emerging countries like India, Africa and other Asian countries, a large population is yet to have access to quality healthcare. The vision is to make use of technology to propose and develop a platform that would make healthcare more accessible to remote locations and deliver the best experience possible. According to "The Global Challenges of Healthcare Delivery" Challenges that are common to every country today are:

• Rising medical costs

• Aging population of all countries

• Shortage of trained medical workforce

Despite the technology advancements in emerging economies, healthcare delivery system has not been transformed enough to meet the current needs. There a lot of services like diagnostics, insurance, wellness, drug delivery, doctor visits, hospital services operating as independent services. This consumes a lot of time, impacts customer experience and also resource intensive.

• To create a platform which will be listing all the doctors and specialists from various locations in India and also manages their availability. Customers can search for any given speciality and location and book an appointment with the doctor. It can be either a virtual or a physical consultation.

• All aspects of this doctor/specialist search and appointment booking will be fully functional and implemented within the course duration. This will be tested and screenshots will be provided summarizing the service.

• The product that we are trying to build is a completely process driven product. It is envisioned to highly utilize the power of well-defined processes and activities within the processes. This would help in accurately predicting the outcomes and help in massive scaling of the application.

Hence the methodology that we would like to adopt for this project would be that of a Feature Driven development where the focus is simply on the well-defined processes, short and iterative feature driven delivery cycles. As the overall product has a wide range of features, each feature can be later added even after the course and hence this approach will help in modularity based on features. All the planning and execution will take place on what featuers are to be included. For the scope of the course, only doctor and specialist listing and appointment booking webapp are the features that will get implemented and tested. Rest of the features like online consultation, drug ordering and deliveries at home, diagnostics booking and sample collection scheduling, etc can come in as future features and can be plugged in.

Summary:

A prototype has been implemented meeting all the functional requirements of the project. This is well supported with the IT tools like databases, servers and web interfaces. All the key desired development implementation activities are completed as desired and are in healthy state. This has been implemented quite quickly with the help of existing systems integrated together to create a quick experience of the real world system. All the test cases have been done and various levels of testing are carried out to ensure that the prototype meets the standards and needs of the real world system. All the key metrics like user experience, performance, security aspects, simplicity, and clarity are well measured and all the feedback is captured and worked on. All the stakeholder feedback is prioritized and taken into consideration for implementing those wherever applicable.
