Your Task

Analyse the case study that will be provided to you at the end of Week 6. Develop a plan to address the ethical problem described in the case. Respond in a conversation with Gen AI using the prompts provided with the case study. Reflect and comment on the interaction that occurred.

Assessment Description

The Giving Voice to Values (GVV) material covered in Workshops 4 and 6, provides tools to help employees, managers and company Directors stand up for their values in the workplace. Assessment 2 provides an opportunity to apply these tools to a realistic workplace scenario, to help build your capacity to handle difficult workplace conversations, while remaining true to your personal values.

Assessment Instructions
Task 1: Case Analysis using the GVV approach (600 words)
Use the case study and write a response to the following questions informed by the Giving Voice to Values (GVV) framework:

Identify the ethical issue and dilemma you face as the key character in the story.
What values are at stake in this situation.
What are the likely rationalisations (justifications) of the key parties.
Explain how this situation impacts each of the stakeholders and the organisation.
Describe how you think you should give voice to your values; what do you want to say and how would you say it? Explain your reasoning for this.
Propose the actions this person should take aligned with GVV principles based on their values and purpose.

Responses must directly address the case study provided and avoid general or unrelated discussions of ethics.

Task 2: Role-Play Discussion with Gen AI (note there is no specific word count for this section, it will depend on your responses to the AI executive)

Conduct a role-play with Gen AI demonstrating your ability to apply GVV (informed by your case analysis). The Gen AI will take the role of the Director of Clinical Services. You will play the role of an employee.

How to set up the role play task:
Use ChatGPT as the Gen AI for this task.
Refer to your case analysis to inform your responses. Prepare a strategy for how you will respond in your role play:
What you expect
How you will respond
What you want to achieve from the role play discussion
Conduct the role play using the instructions provided with the case study.
Export your entire chat and include it in the main body of your assessment submission as your output for Task 2.

Task 3: Feedback Processing and Reflection (600 Words)

After you enter END ROLE-PLAY, the AI will switch roles, providing feedback on your responses in the role play using GVV principles.

Focus on:
How clearly you expressed your values
How effectively you addressed the reasons and rationalisations mentioned by the AI
How constructive and solution-oriented your approach was
Your tone, persuasion, and professional judgement in a senior leadership context Cut and paste this feedback into your document.
Review and critically reflect on your responses during the role play. Describe:
What worked well and why

What you would do differently in a real-world situation and why
How your understanding of speaking ethically and leadership has developed through this exercise
How GVV might be able to be applied, based on your work experience so far and your future career.
