Question: Blood type compatibility between the parents is the most important factor in determining the risk of Rhesus (Rh) illness, which occurs when a Rh-negative mother's immune system attacks the Rh-positive blood of her Rh-positive fetus. Women who are Rh-negative and whose partners are Rh-positive are at greater risk since their offspring may acquire the father's Rh-positive status. Pregnancy and postpartum Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg) administration to avoid sensitization in situations of Rh-negative mothers and Rh-positive infants is a common method used by healthcare practitioners to diagnose and treat this risk.
