Find a news story, past or present that involves a legal matter that was being litigated. Review the news article and gain an understanding of the core legal issue that gave rise to the law suit. Begin your research of the issue by looking in a legal encyclopedia or on Google.

Provide the citation for the news article and the citation for the provision you find in the legal encyclopedia. Summarize the provision in the legal encyclopedia and explain how it relates back to the issue in the news story you selected. Then, state the next steps you would take in your research process to locate primary authority. Include how starting your research with locating secondary authority will assist you in your next steps to finding primary authority on the legal issue.
