In Book 3, Section 8.5 you learnt that the higher the temperature of an object, the greater the energy per photon of the light emitted with peak intensity by that object (this is shown graphically in Book 3, Figure 8.15). For an object at a given temperature, T, the light emitted with peak intensity consists of a large number of identical photons, each with the same energy, Eph, given by: Equation label:(Equation 1)where h is the Planck constant (Book 3, Section 10.2), c is the speed of light and b is a constant called Wien's displacement constant.
