Consider a sunspot with measured field strength 1000 Gauss. Assume the ratio of the total brightness of the gas at the center of the sunspot, to the gas just outside it is 0.35 (ie the photometric contrast is 35%). Assume the sunspot is in equilibrium and the number density of the gas is uniform throughout the region (taken to be 2x10^17 cm^-3). Assume the magnetic field outside the sunspot is negligibly small. Determine the temperature of the gas inside and outside the sunspot.
