Question: At one time, oil was shipped in barrels. The standard oil barrel of 42 US gallons was used in the United States. Although oil is no longer shipped in this manner, the unit of barrels is still used as a measure of volume. A tanker delivers a shipment of 1200 barrels of oil. The oil has a specific gravity of 0.825 at 60°F. Determine the shipment weight in pounds and US tons. Use US units.
