A piston cylinder device having an initial volume of 2 m3 initially contains steam at 10 bars and 200oC (state 1). The contents are compressed isothermally until the volume is 41.95 percent of the initial volume (state 2). At this point the volume is held fixed and heat transfer occurs until a pressure of 40 bars is obtained (state 3).
