A three phase capacitor bank is constructed from three single-phase capacitors connected in wye -grounded. Each single phase capacitor is made up of 4 series groups and 11 parallel capacitor units. Each capacitor unit is rated 400kVAR and 23.815kV.
(a) Determine the nominal reactive power rating of the capacitor bank.
(b) Actual reactive power produced by the capacitor when it is installed at a 161 KV bus.
(c) If the 161KV substation has a short-circuit capacity of 2000MVA, find the expected steady state voltage.
(d) Assume that the system source inductance be 12.33mH. The internal inductance of the capacitor bank is 10uH. Determine the inrush current.
