Selecting the System Architecture
Systems analysts have to consider a great many options for the system architecture.
Use an example of a new business information system to respond to the following:
• Suggest 2 or 3 questions that a systems analyst might ask in order to determine the most appropriate architectural choices for the new system.
• Show, through a scenario, how different responses to these questions would lead to different decisions. Do not repeat an example from the textbook or one that has been posted by another student.
There are no right or wrong answers here, but be sure to support your position with something you've learned this week. Post your initial response by Wednesday and then return a couple of other days and interact with your classmates (as I am already late, disregard the Wednesday part).
Discussions are an important part of your learning. Share your thoughts, suggestions, and questions with your classmates and learn from theirs.
Interact just as you would in a traditional classroom. Support your positions with explanations and/or sources, as appropriate, but do not quote or paraphrase.
Teacher's comments:
The systems analyst has to make reasonable recommendations about every aspect of the architecture of a new information system.
This week, I'd like you to develop a few questions that could help you make those decisions. In practice, you would pose these questions to a variety of stakeholders, then use their responses to formulate recommendations.
