An open-ended mixing drum is a thin cylinder of length 1.3 m, diameter 600 mm and wall thickness 5 mm. The drum is made from steel of density 7800 kg m 3 . A driving torque of 55 Nm accelerates the drum uniformly from rest to a speed of 3600 rpm against a friction torque of 5 Nm. Determine (a) the moment of inertia of the drum, (b) the angular acceleration, (c) the time taken, (d) the work done, (e) the average power developed by the driving motor.
