Design of Lloyd-Max Quantizer
The objective of this problem is to use MATLAB to design a 10-level Lloyd-Max (nonuniform) quantizer for a zero-mean, unit-variance Gaussian source.
1. Determine the quantization boundaries and the quantization levels.
2. Determine the mean squared distortion.
A 15kV:175kV, 125 MVA, 60 Hz single-phase transformer has primary and secondary impedances of 0.0095+j0.063 per unit each. The magnetizing impedances is j148 per unit. All quantities are in per unit on the transformer base.
Derive the expression for maximum torque (show all steps) and show that the slip at which maximum torque occurs is directly proportional to rotor resistance, but the maximum torque is independent of rotor resistance.
