An instrument package B is placed on the shaking table C as shown. The table is made to move horizontally in simple harmonic motion with a frequency of 3 Hz. Knowing that the coefficient of static friction is µs = 0.40 between the package and the table, determine the largest allowable amplitude of the motion if the package is not to slip on the table. Give the answers in both SI and U.S. customary units.
